The owner of Learn Speak Spanish, Johan, was very apprehensive when I presented the new method of promotion to him. But we have previously worked together on other sites and he knew that I always had quality advice. Finally on 28-01-2010, we decided to test a smaller package on his site which included 20 of everything.

We decided on 2 keywords, learn Spanish cheap and buy Spanish course. Both are pretty targeted keywords with some hefty competition. “Buy Spanish course” has 20 million competing pages and another had 1.5 million competing pages.

I will let the numbers do the talking:

To put it simple, IT BROKE EVEN THE HIGHEST EXPECTATIONS WE HAD!

For The keyword Buy Spanish Course :

The site ranked NUMBER ONE, yes number one.

Page one of Google had 3 of his pages listed

Page two had 3 of his pages listed again.

In total, within a few days, 17 of his pages ranked in top 500 positions. He OWNED Google for that term!

For the Keyword Learn Spanish Cheap :

1 Page one ranking

2 page 2 ranking.

In total, within a few days he had 24 pages ranked in the top 500 position.

The Package he bought can be seen here

This is what he had to say in the end:

Hi my name is Johan and I am an affiliate marketer.

I got in contact with Hari thru DP; I think I ordered some articles from him. It got to be almost 1 year ago. Anyway, since then I have been talking to Hari about IM. I knew he did SEO for clients, but since I’m a very skeptical person towards all kinds of SEO-services I never ordered SEO from him, or from someone else (I have been burned a couple of times. Money for nothing…) So one day a couple a weeks ago when we were talking, he claimed that he got a package that took his client to #1st spot on Google. At first at laughed at him and said “yeah right…” coz I didn’t believe him. He said I should try it myself.

And guess what? I did. JUST TO PROVE HE WAS WRONG! I never thought I would make the first spot. I gave him my URL and keywords, waited a couple of days. And the work was done.

In a couple of days I had some web2.0 properties on first page which was linking to my site. And after 2-3 weeks MY SITE WAS ON FIRST PLACE FOR DESIRED KEYWORD. And if that wasn’t enough, I got web 2.0 properties on the first page as well, ALL linking to my site!

And I hate to admit it, but I was wrong, Hari was right. I’m got to #1st place as Hari said. I’m defiantly going to order more from him!

The Package he bought can be seen here

Link wheels and profile links are a great strategy for driving traffic to your website and helping your website gain position in the Search Engines. There is something to be said for building links on social media profiles. Profile pages on many popular social media sites tend to get indexed frequently. Some social media sites will pass on link value to your website and some let you use anchor text to describe your links. This helps tell the Search Engines what your website is all about.

There is some evidence that nofollow links do not pass value, however, the pages they point to get indexed quickly and nofollow links can still help overall link count for your website. MSN and Yahoo seem to follow nofollow links. It is important that you build profile links on websites that are related to the website you are pointing the profile links to. This will give your linke extra weight in the Search Engines.

A Link Wheel is basically a set of five or six Web 2.0 properties linked together and pointing back to a central “Hub” site. Think of a wagon wheel with a hub at the center and many spokes pointing outward and attached to a circular wheel. You build a link wheel using Web 2.0 properties like Squidoo.com, Hubpages.com, Blogger.com, Weebly.com, Blogsom.com, Quizilla.com , and Vox.com just to name a few.

Each Web 2.0 property is linked to its neighbor with one link and also linked back to the center hub or “Focus Hub” with one link. The Focus Hub never links out to the other web properties and none of the web properties link back to each other. All links are one way links. This linking structure is very is important. After building your Center Hub Page all other sites are designed for the purpose of linking to, and boosting the ranking of, Your Center Hub site.

The spokes or other sites must have relevant content and, preferably unique relevant content that funnels visitors into the Center Hub site.Setting up a basic link wheel is not that hard but if you are building an advance link wheel it can be a lot of work because you are now creating and maintaining a lot of content and Web 2.0 properties. You also need to make sure that you get the link structure right because the way you link to and from each property is very important in the eyes of the Search Engines. If you get this link structure wrong the Search engines could penalize your Center Hub site. Get this right and you will have great success with it.

By combining key word focused and themed Linkwheels along with profile links you can increase your Hub Sites rankings in the Search Engines. Just remember to follow SEO best practices when building your Linkwheels and profile links.
